Phuket Gay festivals… from 2003 to 2010

Hi everyone,

Yesterday was the last day of the 2010 Patong Gay pride festival and we have just finished uploading the pictures taken all along the Parade.

Again this years, hundreds of people joined the march in Patong Beach, starting at the end of the Beach road and finishing in the Paradise Complex for the biggest party.

Here are the photos taken this year and during the past prides. A good way for you to remember or discovers these events:

2010: This year Gay parade

2008: This one was huge and probably the most memorable

2006: Big parties everywhere for this festival

2004: Patong Gay parade 2004

2003: Phuket Gay festival 2003

New rooms in Aquarius, now straight friendly!

We are proud to announce that we are now straight friendly and happy to welcome everyone to enjoy their holidays with us!

If the main building (connected to the sauna) will remain the Only Men Only hotel of Phuket Island, we now have a new building just across the street (facing the main Aquarius) where we are glad to welcome you.

The new building has 7 new rooms, Superiors and mostly Big Superiors (budget) including two with garden on the ground floor for easy access to our elderly and disabled guests. We also now have rooms with twin beds.

As all Aquarius, the building has the best security system available in the Paradise Complex (24h cameras, keycard locks…) and offers to our guests all our traditional services such as free internet access, free entrance to our sauna and gym, free daily breakfast… yes, you are in Aquarius!

Here are the first photos taken of the new rooms:

The holidays season 2010 just ended, the sun is still shining over Patong

Today is officially the  last day of this year’s holidays season (peak season) and here are some photos took on Patong Beach yesterday.

Still busy, still sunny… we are waiting for you to join us!

Lamud birthday party was yesterday

Every year Lamud birthday is a big event in Phuket gay life calendar.

It was yesterday and it was in Aquarius. The photos are available online on Flickr

We all wish him the best for this new year.

New Year party at Aquarius: the photos are online

As every year we organized our New-Year party in Aquarius.

We started at the bar with free food and free drinks for all our guests. Just after diner our staff made a special show, a good occasion to see an other side of them…

At midnight, we all went up on the rooftop terrace which is the best place to be: every hotel launches it’s own firework in Patong and we are right in the middle, surrounded by thousands of lights.

Then we went to the gay bars next street to celebrate the event!

You will find the photos here on Flickr

New year in Aquarius

Sawasdee Pee Mai!

All the staff at Aquarius wish you to have a happy and successful new year 2010.

The Similan Islands just re-opened

The Similan Islands is certainly the best preserved national park around Phuket.

It close every low season in order to allow the ecosystem to recover and it just re-opened.

We were among the first to visit it this year. We uploaded the first photos on Flickr. As you will see, if you want to make postcards look alike pictures, this is definitely the spot to go.

As for PhiPhi the sea is incredibly clear and the landscapes are beautiful but less tourists are allowed to visit the site and the animal life is more diversified… have you ever swam with sea turtles?

Coming to Aquarius from Phuket airport

Transportation on the island became a real problem lately. Prices went very high and many people complain about the service provided with both motorbike taxis, tuk-tuks and taxis.

This is of course one more reason for you to consider Aquarius: being centrally located on Phuket main beach, we are on walking distance to everything and you don’t have to pay for transportation when you want to go to the beach, shopping or after a enjoying the nightlife.

From Phuket airport, the trip to Patong Beach is about 45 minutes drive and you have several options:

  • The easiest way is to book one of our drivers. He will be waiting for you at the airport with a yellow Aquarius sign and will directly bring you to Aquarius. We charge 600 Baht per car for this service or 1000 Baht if you need a minibus (more than 3 persons).
  • The cheapest is to use one of the many shared minibus available, most of them pass by Patong and they will drop you either on Rat-U-Thit road (main street close to Aquarius) or in front of the Paradise Hotel. They will charge you around 200 Baht per person. You should know that the trip can be very long (more than 2 hours) depending on the itinerary the driver will take (if he will pass by Patong first or at last) and you will have to stop for a long time in a travel agency where they will try to sell you tours.
  • In between are the taxis meter. They are located on the extreme right when leaving the passenger terminal. Just make sure your driver turns his meter on and don’t accept any fixed charge.
  • At last, there are all the independent drivers waiting for customers in front of the airport. We don’t advice you to use them. They are always more expensive and often lead to trouble.

In any way, we advice you to always have our phone number (076-341-668) with you. Phone calls are very cheap in Thailand and you will easily find someone to lend you a cell phone if you need any assistance.

Enjoy your trip to Phuket!
